Worm Studio is a new agency, but its expertise behind it aren't.

Worm Studio is new. I'm not. I've been working in SEO and digital marketing since 2012, and the creative industries for longer than that. Worm is the first time I've put both under one name, and I hope that you are as excited for the journey as I am.

I've watched search change more in the last two years than in the previous decade. Google went from aiming to get ranked in the ten blue links to now being cited and named in AI Overviews. People stopped typing keywords into a search box and have started asking ChatGPT real questions instead. Most of what I learned about ranking a page in 2012 still matters - structure, clarity, actually answering the question in the clearest most authentic way - but the destination changed, and a lot of businesses haven't caught up yet.

I studied graphic design at the University of Brighton, then spent nine years as a full-stack web developer - mostly working at small design agencies, the kind where there's no separation in roles for the team. The creative problem, and the creative solution are all one. The kind of environment where you end up doing a bit of everything: design, dev, content, marketing client calls, and then the SEO that makes the site actually worth building in the first place. SEO was the constant throughout all of my career - the part I kept coming back to, and the part I never stopped being passionate about.

That hands-on, involved-in-everything approach is the actual foundation Worm Studio's approach is built on - not a pivot into something new, just the same way of working, applied to where search is now.

It's also why the first thing I did with this studio was check to check where we ranked as a new agency - unsurprisingly we didn't show in any Google search results or AI prompt answers.
